Overview
An accurate and easy to use software to solve the most useful application of open channel hydraulics in any cross-section channel. Some applications of HiCalc are:
- Sewer design
- Urban drainage
- On-street flooding
- Irrigation
- Design of control sections
- Water flow measurement
- River and channel hydraulics
- Erosion control
The new interface and strong algorithm helps the user to get an accurate and straightforward solution. HiCalc handles calculations with: water depths, discharge, manning roughness, slope and specific energy. For instance, for uniform flow calculations HiCalc allows the user to calculate any flow parameter by knowing the others.
The result in HiCalc shows also the most useful hydraulics parameters: cross section surface, wetted perimeter, hydraulic radio, surface width, froude number, shear stress, specific energy and momentum.
The most common flow regimes can be solved in HiCalc:
- Uniform Flow
- Gradually Varied Flow
- Rapidly Varied Flow
- Energy equation
- Momentum equation
- Triangular weirs
- Rectangular weirs
- Broad crested weirs
- Underflow gates
HiCalc can handle any cross section entered by the user but it also has the most common cross-section predefined:
- Rectangular
- Triangular
- Trapezoidal
- Circular
- Trapezoidal-rectangular
- Rectangular-trapezoidal
A comprehensive manual of HiCalc is available in our “Download area”.
How to obtain HiCalc?
A test version of HiCalc V2.0 is available for free download in our “Download area”. The Test version of HiCalc allows the user to do some calculations on rectangular channels.
A License is needed to get access to a full functionality copy of HiCalc. A License can be purchased in our “online store”.
Educational versions are available, please email us to sales@istec.com.uy to ask about the details of educational versions.
The License allows the user to install HiCalc in different PCs and switching the activated copy at any moment (one activated copy at a time per license).
About HiCalc
HiCalc V2.0 is a software designed in Visual Studio.net and runs on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. To operate the software .NET Framework 3.5 or later must be installed (free program distributed by Microsoft).
HiCalc was created in 1999 and is periodically updated for Istec Ingeniería.
It is intended as a guide for hydraulics engineering calculations and design, and is not intented to replace the judgment of a qualified hydraulic engineer on a particular project. Istec Ingeniería assumes not liability for interpretations or implementation made by users of HiCalc. |
