HiTrans v2 is a numerical modelling software to solve the full elastic one-dimensional partial differential equations of movement (conidering head losses) to analyze unsteady flows in pressurized pipeline systems (commonly known as "water hammer"), by using the well known and proved "method of characteristics".  Water hammer is the name commonly given to the fast pressure fluctuations developed in a pressurized pipe when the flow is suddenly changed. HiTrans v2 is available in different editions. With HiTrans v2 Premium Edition (complete edition) you can solve complex pipelines composed with up to 100 pipes and the following devices):

HiTrans v2 is intuitive and easy to use. It includes different estimators for unknown parameters:

• Mechanic inertia for pumps
• Wave celerity in pipes

 

To run HiTrans you just need to enter only these parameters

• Total Simulation Time
• Time Step (for result presentations)
• Minimum Number of Sections in any pipe (for calculations)

HiTrans v2 internal algoritm will calculate all the calculation parameters to assure the solution\'s convergence and stability. For advanced users, it is possible to see all these internal calculation parameters.

MODELLING RESULTS OF HI TRANS v2

HiTrans v2 is user friendly to manage modelling results.

• All graphical results can be printed
• All numerical results can be exported to spreadsheet software (OpenOffice Spreadsheet / Microsoft Excel)

Graphical results includes: Piezometric Head (m), Flow (m3/s) and Pressure (m, manometric)

• Summary results: extreme values in each section of the pipes
• Plots for any point, any magnitude against time
• Plots for certain nodes, any magnitude against time
• Water Hammer Animation: a powerfull tool to take a look on what is happening in your pipeline during the transient.

Numerical results also include: Piezometric Head (m), Flow (m3/s) and Pressure (m, manometric)

FILE OUTPUTS

All the graphical result outputs can be printed; the numerical result outputs can be exported to a text file to be used in spreadsheet software like OpenOffice Spreadsheet or MS Excel (*.csv format, text separated by commas).Additionally a file in text format (*.txt, separated by a character) with the characteristics of the simulation and the complete results is also given, which can be exported to spreadsheet software like Openoffice Spreadsheet or MS Excel..

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

HiTrans v2 works under Windows Environment (platforms 9x, NT, 98, 2000, XP,Vista). This new version v2.1 is developed in the Visual.NET enviroment so the .NET FrameWork is required in order to install HiTrans v2.1. ABOUT THE DEMO VERSION THAT IS OBTAINED FROM THE WEB SITE
